What’s a Custom Domain?
A custom domain is a unique web address that you purchase and control, allowing you to personalize your online identity. It's a branded address that replaces generic or subdomain URLs, making it easier for users to find and remember your website.
Instead of using the default format like yourname.catlog.shop, you can now use something like: yourname.shop, yourname.com.ng, yourname.gh, yourname.com, e.t.c.
It's cleaner. It’s easier to remember. And it instantly upgrades your store's perception.
If you're ready to add a custom domain to your store, here’s how to do it — whether you’re starting from scratch or already have one purchased elsewhere.
Option 1: Buy a New Domain Through Catlog
If you don’t already own a domain, we’ve made it super easy to buy one.
To buy a domain on Catlog:
- Open your Catlog dashboard
- Go to Store Settings > Configurations > Custom Domains
- Tap on Buy a New Domain
- Type in the name you want (e.g. yourbrandname.com)
- If it’s available, tap Buy Now
Catlog will automatically connect the domain to your store, no extra steps needed.
If it's not available, you'll get suggested other similar domain names you can use instead.
Option 2: Connect a Domain You Already Own
Already bought a domain somewhere else? No problem — you can connect it to your Catlog store in just a few steps.
To connect an existing domain:
- Go to Store Settings > Configurations > Custom Domains in your Catlog dashboard
- Tap Connect Existing Domain
- Enter your domain name (e.g.
mybrand.com) and click Add Domain. - Follow the instructions to update your DNS settings (Add the A record provided to your DNS provider)
Once your settings are updated, hit Verify and you’re live!
